Thank goodness News channels are dead…

by Calvin Robinson on July 22, 2008.

Mainstream news is pretty much dead, lets be honest.

If you’re not getting your news from one of your favourite iPhone apps, then you’re probably digging it on certain websites ;)

With websites and video streams / podcasts being updated 24/7, with such easy access, does anyone actually turn on the old TV for Sky News anymore?

If you’ve ever watched a Television news report on a subject of any importance to you, you will understand why I dislike it so much …

TV reporters are lazy. The often spout incorrect ‘facts’, do very little research into subject matters, and fill the ‘report’ with useless information.
I’ve watched reports on Martial Arts that I do, and my favourite gadgets being released etc. and its always disguistingly inacurate not to mention boring.
This makes me think, if the ‘News’ on subjects I know about is so inacurate, then the News on subjects I don’t know about is probably equally inacurate.

Where as sites such as Digg are under a lot more scrutiny. If something is posted that’s incorrect, it will get burried (as spammed with comments from haters).

Then theres sites like Google News that just grab your news from lots of different sources, so you can check the different sides for yourself, and make your own opinion.

I dislike TV news not only for the inacuracy and boredom, but also for the way opinions are forced on you. News should be objective … I don’t want a new ‘reporter’ telling me what is right/wrong, I want to know the cold hard facts, and work the rest out for myself, thanks.

I won’t talk about the repetitiveness really, because anyone who’s ever watched a 24hour hour news channel instantly understands what I mean.

So, thank goodness news channels are dead.
