Well I have decided to start posting a blog of my ‘Linux Experiences’, as a pass-time, as well as an archive – incase I solve some issue that occurs again in the future.
I have been using Slackware for a week now, and I’m very impressed.
Mandrake was a great starting point, and Slackware is a lot more advanced – I’m learning more about Linux itself, rather than which MDK GUI to open ![]()
I have Steam running perfectly, via Cedega(WineX), which I am pleased about – I remember trying to run HL/CS1.5 back on Mandrake 8.2 with Wine, to no success.
Enemy Territory runs nativly, at High graphics mode, and I get no lagg at all, which i’m also please about ![]()
I found a new music player tonight, amaroK.
My music collectionw as getting too big for xmms, so I needed something with a media library.
This software is nice!
It took me a while to get GStreamer working though, the gst-plugins refused to recognise I had GStreamer installed, until I “export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib/pkgconfig:/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig” then all went smoothly xD.
And of course I installed this WordPress blog a moment ago, it’s one of the best downloadable blogs I have seen! I wonder why it didn’t come with CPanel :s
I wanted to install Debian on the server-pc this week, but the DVDR is stuck in my sister’s pc – the screw has rounded, which is pretty annoying.
I shall have to download cdr isos rather than the dvd iso, unless I want to attempt a net install. :/
That’s my first post out the way – I’m sure i’ll find more to write about soon.
Lord C
